Princess Akojenu is an incoming freshman guard from Staten Island, New York, known for her athleticism, grit, and high basketball IQ. She graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA in 2025, where she averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals per game as a senior. That season, she was named Team MVP, recognized as Athlete of the Month for January by the Alexandria Sportsman’s Club, and earned All-NOVA, VISAA Second Team, and All-Met Honorable Mention honors.

Off the court, Princess enjoys writing poetry, thrifting, painting and drawing, and listening to music. She chose Virginia University of Lynchburg because of the genuine, motherly connection she felt with Head Coach Walker. She was also drawn to the demanding basketball schedule. Princess values a strong sense of community and is excited to grow both as an athlete and as a student. She hopes to use her platform to inspire other young women to pursue their passions unapologetically. “My favorite thing about basketball is the beauty that comes from team basketball and the extra pass,” she says. With her love for the game and commitment to be great, Princess is ready to make her mark at VUL.
